Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is on a shortlist of candidates to become the new boss of Leeds United, according to the Sun.
Sam Allardyce was appointed for the final four games of the season but failed to win a match as Leeds were relegated from the Premier League following a 4-1 defeat at home to Tottenham on 28 May.
The former England boss has indicated he would like a crack with Leeds in the Championship but several candidates have emerged as options for the dugout at Elland Road.
The Sun reports Leeds are looking to build a project similar to the one that they had under Marcelo Bielsa in 2018, and Edwards is on their radar after a dramatic play-off final victory over Coventry at Wembley saw Luton promoted to the top flight for the first time since 1992, having finished third in the regular season.
Lorient boss Regis Le Bris is also said to be on the list, with his side sitting 10th in Ligue 1 with a game to go.
Stability is key for Leeds
After such a turbulent season that ultimately ended in relegation from the Premier League, Leeds need a clear sense of direction with a manager they can get behind.
Both Edwards and Le Bris would be fantastic options for the club, especially in the current circumstances. The latter may be the easier of the two options to lure to Yorkshire, with Edwards perhaps keen to lead Luton out in the Premier League after their sensational promotion.
Brendan Rodgers and Steven Gerrard have also been mentioned as options previously, while SunSport reported on 30 May that Leeds’ players want Allardyce to stay on as manager.
There are a number of options for the Yorkshire giants, however, it is important that the club make sure to take their time with the decision in order to get it right. Fans will want to see a response to relegation and Leeds will need the right man in charge to handle that pressure.
With recent promotion experience under his belt, Rob Edwards may just be that man.
