Nottingham Forest have made an official approach to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson. The Reds had the stopper on loan during 2022/23 and now he could make a permanent switch.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Forest have now made their move for Henderson. He has a couple of years left on his deal at Manchester United and it could take up to £30 million to sign him.

Henderson signed for Forest ahead of the season just gone. He made 20 appearances for the Reds and kept six clean sheets; the most of any custodian outside of the top six during that period.

The 26-year-old is a wonderful player. He suffered a torn thigh muscle against Leicester in January and ultimately that ended his season prematurely, with Forest adding Keylor Navas to replace him.

Henderson is surplus to requirements at Manchester United. They lost the FA Cup Final yesterday and once again the Red Devils questioned the form of David de Gea who isn’t in great form.

Henderson could cost a decent transfer fee. It does feel like his time at United is up though and ultimately Forest could be getting themselves a bit of a bargain in the transfer window.

Forest have made official approach for Henderson

This would be an amazing signing. It would represent a great start to the transfer window for Forest who will prioritise quality over quantity during the summer months.

Forest definitely need a goalkeeper. Navas has now returned to PSG and given his wages it’s unlikely that he will sign for the club on a permanent basis.

Henderson has been praised before. He was called ‘insane’ by Sheffield United star Sander Berge and it’s perhaps a bit surprising that they’ve not tried to sign him.

The goalkeeper collected £120,000-a-week at United. As a result, the stopper won’t come cheap and the hope will be that Forest can get the very best deal for him.
