Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper lauded Nicolas Dominguez’s debut performance in the Garibaldi. For the first time since joining from Bologna this summer, the Reds’ star was picked to the starting eleven.
Dominguez experienced a baptism of fire. He was up against some of the best midfielders in the world, but he didn’t appear intimidated.
Dominguez, 25, joins Forest after appearing 11 matches for Argentina. He was not a member of the World Cup-winning squad, but he did help his country win the Copa America.
Cooper hailed his new midfielder after the game. He also stated that he must approach with caution when integrating his new members into the team.
“I thought he did well,” he told Nottinghamshire Live. We’ve brought in a lot of new players; it’ll be tough to put them all together and expect a fluid team that can compete in a Premier League game, let alone this one.”
After the Reds’ defeat, Forest midfielder Dominguez was complimented.
The talented player already appears to be a solid midfielder. He’s showed enough quality in one game to suggest he’ll be more than adequate in the Premier League.
Dominguez will almost certainly keep his place in the team for next Sunday. The Reds will play Brentford next week and he should now be a banker to start.
Forest threw Remo Freuler in the deal to take Dominguez to the City Ground. Yesterday, the player showcased in one game that he’s probably far more suited to Cooper’s style of play than the Swiss performer ever was.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien was allowed to join Middlesbrough on loan during the summer transfer window. Yesterday, he started the game in a bizarre position.
The Reds signed O’Brien from Huddersfield in the summer of 2022. He cost the club £10 million but after 14 appearances in the Premier League, he was omitted from the 25-man squad for the second half of the season.
Forest loaned the player out to D.C. United after leaving him out of their squad. Wayne Rooney wanted to keep him permanently but the MLS outfit couldn’t raise the finances.
Michael Carrick took him on during the summer and he’s now handing him chances to start. Yesterday, he utilised him as a left-sided wing-back and the local media delivered their verdict after the first win of their season.
Teesside Live gave him a 6/10 and claimed: “Lost Armstrong for Southampton’s goal, but playing as a makeshift left-back, O’Brien did okay, particularly in attack. At times it looked as close to last season on that flank as it has all season.”
