Newcastle made a late effort to attempt to snare a Tottenham signing.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur beat out Newcastle United to capture Croatian wonderkid Luka Vuskovic.
Spurs confirmed on Monday that they have signed a transfer deal with Hajduk Split for the 16-year-old, who would join the North London club in 2025.
The Lilywhites stated that the youthful center-back has signed a contract extension in N17 until 2030.
Last week, Fabrizio Romano disclosed on the Here We Go podcast that Vuskovic was on the radar of many prominent European teams, including PSG and Manchester City, both of which had been attempting to sign him for months.
However, Romano claims that the boy was set on a move to Tottenham as soon as the club presented him with their concept.
Newcastle were also interested in Luka Vuskovic.
According to the most recent Football Insider report, Spurs also beat out Newcastle to sign Vuskovic.
According to the source, the Magpies made a late move for the teenager and made contact with the player’s entourage about a possible transaction.
The St James Park leadership, however, were supposedly informed that Vuskovic had already decided to join Tottenham.
The agreement to bring the centre-back to Spurs is expected to be valued approximately £8.7 million, according to the site.
Spurs Online Opinion
Given the amount of elite European clubs said to be interested in Vuskovic, it is evident that his signing is a huge coup for Tottenham.
While the 16-year-old is still in his early stages, Spurs will be hoping that he will be much closer to a polished product when he joins the club in 2025.
