In what was a dreadful 2022/23 season, Nigeria star Wilfred Ndidi apologized to Leicester City supporters in an emotional statement following the club’s relegation to the Championship, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Foxes had a disastrous season, and despite a 2-1 win over West Ham on the final day of the season, they were relegated to the second-tier league, bringing an end to a hugely successful near-decade in the top flight that saw them win the Premier League title and the FA Cup, as well as playing regularly in Europe.

Leicester finished 18th in the EPL log with 34 points, two points fewer than Everton, who ended 17th and managed to stay in the top division despite the Foxes’ failure.

On his Instagram page, Ndidi expressed his sadness for the team’s failure to achieve expectations a week after their relegation.

“I would like to express my heartfelt regret for the team’s relegation.” We were devastated that we couldn’t make it in the end. “We understand how much you invested in supporting us throughout the season, and we sincerely apologize for disappointing you,” Ndidi stated.

“Please know that your unwavering support is priceless to us, and we appreciate your devotion to the club.” Thank you for your patience and continuing support.
