But despite Brentford enduring a difficult spell of form, former Arsenal player Merson has backed Sunday’s match at the City Ground to end all square. He’s gone with a 1-1 draw.

“Neither of these two sides has been particularly impressive in recent weeks, indicating that we could see an evenly-matched contest,” he told Sportskeeda.

“Brentford look like they are there for the taking, so Forest will look to make home advantage count to secure a positive result.

“The Bees could get dragged into a relegation battle in the coming weeks as they’ve just won one game so far in the Premier League. In Ivan Toney’s absence, Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo have shown flashes of brilliance, but they need an out-and-out striker to regularly put the ball into the back of the net.”

Three clubs queue up to sign ‘brilliant’ Nottingham Forest forward

Three clubs are now keen on signing Gustavo Scarpa on a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest. The 29-year-old is currently on loan for the 2023/24 campaign at Olympiacos.

According to R7, the three clubs who are keen to sign him permanently all come from Brazil. Flamengo, Fluminense and the club Forest signed him from, Palmeiras, are all keen.

Scarpa made a rare start for Olympiacos last week. They secured a 4-0 win during the game against Kifisia and the Brazilian forward gave a good account of himself.

The Reds took the player on a free transfer from Palmeiras in January 2023. He made 10 appearances for Forest before it was decided that he would go to Olympiacos on loan this season.

Forest forward Scarpa wanted by three clubs

The player has a contract at Forest until 2026. As a result, it’s unlikely that the player will be allowed to leave on the cheap, although it seems as though Scarpa has played his last game for the club.

In the short-term, the player will hope to play lots of football in Greece this season. Either in January or at the end of the campaign, there will be a decision to make.

Scarpa showed some glimpses at Forest of what he is capable of. Ultimately, Steve Cooper didn’t see him as the man to trust in a relegation scrap and it’s fair to say that the team now have better players.

The future looks to be away from England for Scarpa

This one is a bit of a shame. Scarpa spoke about a move to Europe being his dream when he arrived at Forest but things look to be over as far as the Premier League is concerned for the player.
