Nottingham Forest owner facing ‘drug trafficking charges

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been charged with drug trafficking and other ”very serious” offenses.
Marinakis not only owns Nottingham Forest but also Olympiakos in the Super League. According to Greek authorities, the shipping magnate and three associates will be prosecuted for drug trafficking and other serious charges.

The 50-year-old has maintained that he is ”a victim of a plot” and ”innocent” in the whole situation. Neither Nottingham Forest nor the English Football League have released a statement or commented on the reports.

However, Olympiakos’ website published a statement in which Marinakis said ”I have never had anything to do with the acts for which an investigative inquiry is to be conducted, the result of which I am absolutely certain to be the confirmation of my innocence.”Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis looking to snap up Italian club in Serie A to add to stable of owned teams | The Sun

The charges are thought to related to an investigation into a tanker that was found to be carrying 2.1 tonnes of heroin in 2014. Marinakis is also facing trial after being accused of fixing football matches in Greece.
