Collingwood ruckman charged in relation to Grand Final incident
The AFL’s Match Review Officer has issued their final report for the 2023 season.
Mason Cox, a Collingwood ruckman, can accept a $2000 punishment after being charged with rough conduct by the Match Review Officer after the 2023 AFL Grand Final.
The accusation stems from an incident in the third quarter involving Brisbane Lions defender Darcy Gardiner, who collided with Cox as his head was put over the ball.
Cox would turn his body and make high contact with Gardiner before being placed on report by the umpire.
The MRO investigated the collision further and rated it as negligent behavior, low impact, and high contact, resulting in a $3000 fine.
Cox faces a $2000 fee if he enters an early plea.
There were no additional charges filed as a result of Saturday’s grand final.
