David Moyes’s West Ham United have been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers right-back Nelson Semedo.
Football Transfers is reporting this morning that West Ham United are interested in signing Nelson Semedo from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in the January transfer window.
West Ham have made inquiries about Wolves defender Nelson Semedo, according to FootballTransfers.
The Hammers are looking for a like-for-like successor for Czech international Vladimir Coufal, who is entering the final year of his contract at the London Stadium and is 31 years old.
Semedo has been Wolves’ first choice at right-wing-back since joining from Barcelona in September 2020, and he has 27 full caps for Portugal.
Coufal has had a solid start to the season, and West Ham may be inclined to exercise the year’s extra option on his contract, but FootballTransfers knows that the Irons have told him that they cannot promise regular first-team play, which might be a sticking point.
Davie Moyes’ team is currently mulling a January transfer window move for Semedo.
According to FootballTransfers’ in-house methodology, Semedo has an Expected Transfer Value (xTV) of €15.9 million. His contract expires in June 2025, and there has been no indication that he would sign new terms, or that Wolves are considering offering him a deal.
Wolves enjoyed a superb win over Manchester City last weekend, ending their 100% Premier League record at Molineux as Hwang Hee-chan netted a second-half winner.
Ruben Dias put one into his own net after Pedro Neto had gone on a right-wing dribble. But it was Semedo’s run forward that helped them get a second goal in the Midlands. Matheus Nunes, formerly of Wolves, was booed with every touch before being hooked off at half-time.
Wolves are now placed 15th in the Premier League table after seven matches in the competition. The Midlands club have Aston Villa and Bournemouth in their next two games.
