Former Panthers and Tigers hooker Masada Iosefa has tragically died following a quad bike accident near Darwin in the Northern Territory on Monday night.

The former Samoan International passed away just hours short of his 33rd birthday today, according to The Courier Mail.

NT Police said initial investigations indicate a man on a quad bike had failed to negotiate a bend on McKinley Rd, Herbert, around 9pm on Monday before colliding with a guard rail and rolling the bike.

Born in Samoa, Iosefa moved to Sydney with his family at a young age and was a schoolboy star at Patrician Brothers’ College, Blacktown.

The talented hooker played 43 games for the Panthers between his NRL debut in 2008 until 2011.

Iosefa then played 14 games for the Wests Tigers between 2012 and 2013 as a back-up to star hooker Robbie Farah.

He also played two Tests for Samoa and was a member of the New Zealand World Cup squad.

Iosefa is being mourned by family and teammates at Rockhampton, where he was set to captain the Emu Park in the 2021 season.
