Newcastle United target Scott McTominay has told friends he wants to leave Manchester United this summer, according to a report.
Having been a regular under previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 26-year-old has been frustrated by his lack of game time during Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge. McTominay started six of the Red Devils’ opening seven Premier League games but has only managed four starts since October.
That encouraged Newcastle to enquire about McTominay during the January transfer window, however Man United made it clear they were unwilling to do business with a Champions League rival.
With Newcastle’s summer transfer plans expected to change slightly after sealing a return to Europe’s most elite competition, McTominany may have dropped down the list. But should Eddie Howe’s side revive their interest, then it’s likely McTominay will want the move. According to Football Insider, the Scotland international has told friends he wants to leave Old Trafford for the good of his career.
