A Homecoming in the Cards For Patrick Kane?
Homecomings in any sport are always something that captivates the fans. With that in mind, it appears there is a lot of interest from a certain NHL team in superstar Patrick Kane. The former Chicago Blackhawks forward and franchise icon is a free agent after undergoing hip surgery during the offseason. According to reports, Kane’s hometown Buffalo Sabres have interest in the veteran forward.
Per TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Sabres have “tremendous interest” in Patrick Kane. Kane spent his entire career with the Blackhawks until he was shipped to the New York Rangers at the 2023 NHL trade deadline. Now, his hometown team has interest in bringing him back to his old stomping grounds.
Truthfully, the match makes sense. The Sabres are an up-and-coming team with stars Tage Thompson and Dylan Cozens leading the way. Don’t forget Rasmus Dahlin and former No. 1 pick Owen Power on the blue line as well. In fact, the Blackhawks passed on Cozens when they selected Kirby Dach with the third overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Now, Buffalo is looking to add a serious weapon after narrowly missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2022-23.
