DOLPHINS CB JALEN RAMSEY RETURNS TO PRACTICE AND MIGHT PLAY BEFORE WEEK 10

The Miami Dolphins star corner Jalen Ramsey might be back on the field earlier than anyone expected after undergoing meniscus surgery in July. Ramsey returned to practice earlier this week and might play before Week 10, according to Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel.

Ramsey hurt his knee at the start of training camp and had to have a procedure to repair a torn meniscus. The initial estimate was that he will be out until December, but the six-time Pro Bowler now appears to be well ahead of the schedule.

Ramsey practiced on Wednesday in a limited capacity as the Dolphins activated his 21-day-practice window. He now needs to be placed on the active roster until the first week of November; otherwise, he’ll be forced to spend the remainder of the season on Injured Reserve.

“From the onset, we gave Jalen a rough target, but everyone’s body is different,” McDaniel told reporters on Wednesday. “He called his shot the day he was injured, saying he was going to beat whatever the target would be. He certainly did that.”

McDaniel rejected the possibility of Ramsey being available in Week 7 but said that the 28-year-old player might be on the field before Miami’s bye in Week 10.

“That being said, this is the first time that he’s going to be playing football, so we’ll acquire information but very optimistic. It’ll be sooner rather than later, obviously, because we’re starting the window,” he added.

Ramsey spent the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Rams, recording a career-high 88 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 18 passes defended, and four interceptions. The LA team traded him in the offseason to Miami in exchange for 2023 third-round draft pick and tight end Hunter Long.
