Sabers’ Tage Thompson to miss ‘significant time’ due to injury

Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson is expected to miss “significant time” after sustaining an upper-body injury in Tuesday’s game against the Boston Bruins, head coach Don Granato announced.

Thompson initially sustained a lower-body injury during the first period after being cut by the skate of Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy. Thompson returned in the second period before he suffered an upper-body injury when he blocked a shot from McAvoy.

“Tage is going to miss some time here,” Granato said after his team’s 5-2 loss on Tuesday. “Probably a significant time, unfortunately. He fought through the first injury but couldn’t fight through the second one. Credit to him for the battle, but it’s unfortunate.”
