On Tuesday, November 14, the Minnesota Vikings placed veteran linebacker Jordan Hicks on injured reserve. This came after the team’s victory against the New Orleans Saints in Week 10 and his need for emergency leg surgery.
According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, Hicks was first declared out of the game in the third quarter due to a shin injury; however, his leg quickly started to swell. He was taken to the hospital by the team’s medical personnel, where specialists determined that he had a compartment problem in his right leg, necessitating emergency surgery.
Despite having a successful operation, Hicks will be sidelined for at least four weeks following his placement on the injured reserve list.

Although Brian Asamoah has missed three consecutive games due to an ankle ailment, KSTP’s Darren Wolfson reports that he has a “50/50” chance of playing on Sunday. Nevertheless, Asamoah should see some reps at linebacker as well.
Hicks’ hospitalization came as a surprise, as the veteran linebacker was playing through the injury for portions of the game.
He spent the night in the hospital as a precaution and was visited by Flores and Kevin O’Connell.
