‘Pragmatic and sensible’—the Coventry boss asked about Joe Edwards ahead of Millwall clash
Coventry boss Mark Robins insists he will not second-guess Joe Edwards ahead of the new Millwall head coach’s first game at The Den.
The 37-year-old former Everton assistant manager, who replaced Gary Rowett after he left by mutual consent, won 4-0 at Sheffield Wednesday in his first game in charge of the Lions.
Coventry reached the play-off final last season but are currently 20th and winless in their last five outings in the league.
“He’s a really good coach and has been coaching for a long time,” Robins said.
“He has coached at a high level, as we know, and listening to him speak, he speaks really well—he’s got clear thoughts about identity, what he wants to do, how he wants to achieve that and how he’s going to go about that.
“He’s pragmatic and sensible with the way that he knows the level and the players that he’s got.
“It might take a little bit of time, but ultimately, it comes down to us and what we can do—you can’t sort of second-guess.
“They may do something in a certain way that might be tweaked.
“They’ve got people at their disposal that they can use. It just depends on what they’ve seen; they’ll have worked for this during this period as well.
“It’ll be an interesting game, but again, it’s one that we can look forward to and hopefully, like I said, we can have another good performance that results in some points.”
