Former Dodgers Infielder Yonny Hernandez Signs Minor League Deal With NL Squad
Former Dodgers infielder Yonny Hernandez has found a new home. Hernandez, who appeared in 14 games with the Dodgers in 2023, has signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. MLB insider Robert Murray reported the news.
Murray also said that the contract includes an invitation to spring training, meaning a year after being with LA in spring training, he’ll now head over to Phoenix to be with the Brewers.
Hernandez was a solid depth piece for the Dodgers in his third year in the big leagues.
The 25-year-old went 3-for-22 with four runs batted in and two walks. He played second and third base during the season, and even made a pitching appearance.
In 2023, Hernandez made his first scoreless inning of the young pitcher’s career. He filled the void left by Hanser Alberto’s departure during the previous offseason admirably, allowing just one hit.
Hernandez played in 43 games for the Texas Rangers in 2021, hitting.217 with six runs batted in and eleven stolen bases. It was his best season to date. We wish him luck in Milwaukee the following season as he looks to gain more playing time on a Brewers team that may be rebuilding.
Hernandez is one of the few players to sign with a team as free agency opens, along with Ricky Vanasco (who signed with the Dodgers). Hopefully, though, in the upcoming weeks, things begin to pick up a bit more speed.
