Texas A&M interest in Ohio State head coach Ryan Day? — Bruce Feldman reports | CFB on FOX

Bruce Feldman shared a report indicating that the Texas A&M Aggies might be interested in targeting Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day.

The Texas A&M Aggies are reportedly ready to pursue Ohio State Buckeyes coach Ryan Day, but Urban Meyer is having none of it.

The Ohio State Buckeyes had already had plenty of distractions heading into their pivotal matchup with the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor on Saturday morning. But apparently, the usual craziness of the rivalry wasn’t enough. Just hours before kickoff, another major potential bombshell dropped, with College Football insider Bruce Feldman reporting that the Texas A&M Aggies are set to pursue Ohio State head coach Ryan Day for their vacant head coaching position.

“Don’t be surprised if the Aggies don’t pursue Ryan Day,” Feldman said on Big Noon Kickoff Saturday morning. “If the Buckeyes win here today and beat the Wolverines, I seriously doubt with them in the playoff mix that he would be taking that call. The Aggies, I think, are optimistic that if they don’t win that game, he might be open to their pitch.”

Is Ohio State's Ryan Day on the hot seat with a third straight loss to Michigan?

While a report such as this, particularly from an insider of the caliber of Feldman, would normally be troubling for Ohio State supporters, former Buckeyes head coach and Ryan Day mentor Urban Meyer was there to ease the minds of his former fan base.

“I love you, Bruce, but no way,” Meyer said with a laugh after hearing the report.

Even without Meyer’s reassuring statement, however, it is hard to believe Day would leave what is arguably the best job in college football, where he has already established a perennial championship contender, for a rebuilding job in College Station.

Could the Aggies potentially throw gobs and gobs of money at Day to the point where he has no choice but to say yes? Sure.

But barring another crazy monetary commitment from the Aggies, which seems highly unlikely given the Jimbo Fisher contract disaster, Day will be far more likely to stay put in Columbus than pack his bags for a middle-of-the-pack SEC program.
