Every AFL team’s best 23 for the 2024 season: Collingwood Magpies

Bringing much of the same firepower from this year into next year’s flag defence campaign, Collingwood will be a formidable foe to the rest of the competition.

The Pies dominated the entire 2023 season by suffocating their opponents with relentless defensive pressure and devastating ball movement.

Following their victory over Brisbane on the final Saturday of September, the Magpies traded away two of the team’s most beloved players, Jack Ginnivan, a goal scorer, and hard-nosed ball-winner Taylor Adams.

Nonetheless, one could argue that Collingwood was still able to improve the team that defeated the Lions on September 30.

We evaluated Collingwood’s all-star roster and provided our best 23 predictions for the Pies for the upcoming season.

Arguably the best stopper in the league, defensive coordinator and captain Darcy Moore leads the Magpies from behind the ball with outstanding fellow key-position back Nathan Murphy.

In deep defense, the ever-assertive Brayden Maynard provides outstanding support alongside the one-on-one prodigy Isaac Quaynor.

Then there are players with the ability to rebound dangerously and initiate offensive chains, such as Oleg Markov, Jack Crisp, and John Noble.

At this year’s National Draft, the Magpies selected two more quick rebounders, Tew Jiath and Harry DeMattia, in an effort to give the opposition more problems.
