Collingwood provide update on nine players following off-season
Two Premiership Pies have undergone surgery, while more are set to work through modified programs.
One-to-four-year players returned to training this week, and Collingwood provided an update on the status of nine players’ injuries and training after the off-season.
In the off-season, vice captain Brayden Maynard underwent shoulder stabilization surgery. Maynard will return to full training in February following a twelve-week recuperation period.
He had surgery on the other shoulder during the off-season of the previous year, making this his second shoulder procedure in the last two years.
Jamie Elliott, a small forward, will be limited in his training prior to the Christmas break. A modified contact-free plan has been implemented to help him regain shoulder strength following minor surgery to repair ligaments.
It is anticipated that he will resume full training in January.
At the conclusion of the 2023 season, a number of issues sidelined captain Darcy Moore, rookie Nick Daicos, forward Dan McStay, and ruckman Darcy Cameron individually in the early part of the off-season.
All four players will be closely monitored during the December training block and should return to full training in January.
Veteran players Jeremy Howe, Steele Sidebottom, and Scott Pendlebury are all completing customized individual pre-season programs. Before going back to full training in January, the three will participate in restricted training sessions in December.
The five-year-plus players at Collingwood will resume training on Monday, December 4.
The Magpies will visit GWS in early March to kick off their 2024 campaign.
