Clark Haggans, former Pittsburgh Steelers  linebacker and Super Bowl champion, dies aged 46

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker and Super Bowl XL champion Clark Hagans has died at the age of 46, his alma mater announced Wednesday.
Colorado State University, where Hagans played in the 1990s and is a Hall of Famer, announced that the former player “passed away on Monday.

Harris passed away at the age of 72 on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022, just two days before the 50th anniversary of his Immaculate Conception.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office says it has responded to investigate the death of a 46-year-old man at a Colorado home.
The one-year-old male was later identified as Hagans.
The cause of death is still under investigation, but “foul play is not clear,” the coroner’s office said in a statement.
The Steelers selected Hagans in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, and he became a star for Pittsburgh.
Hagans was an important part of his Steelers team that won the 2005 Super Bowl, recording a career-high 9 sacks during the season.

After seven years in Pittsburgh, Hagans spent three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and one year with the San Francisco 49ers before ending his career in 2012.
Hagans led Colorado State to two championships in 1997 and 1999, and his 33 sacks remain a program record, the school said.
The school said it would make arrangements to “remember and celebrate Hagans’ life”.
