Through their social media channels, the Minnesota Vikings announced the death of Bud Grant, adding that they’re absolutely devastated by the news of his passing.

“We are absolutely devastated to announce legendary Minnesota Vikings head coach and Hall of Famer Bud Grant has passed away this morning at age 95.”

“We, like all Vikings and NFL fans, are shocked and saddened by this terrible news.”

Bud Grant is regarded among the best coaches of his time, even though his era includes some of the biggest names to ever coach in the NFL, like Don Shula, Tom Landry, John Madden, Chuck Noll and many more.

But Grant never managed to win a Super Bowl, despite attending four in eight years with the Minnesota Vikings.

He was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994 and in his induction speech he acknowledged the fact he always lost in the Super Bowl.

“If you’re going to succeed, survive is maybe a better word. You’ve got to handle losing. You die every time you lose, but you’ve got to get over it.”
