Officially, a former top quarterback recruit is heading out of state to join an SEC rival.

This week, Brock Vandagriff made his transfer portal debut and declared his commitment to Kentucky on Wednesday.

Vandagriff, a five-star prospect from Bogart, Georgia’s Prince Avenue Christian, joined Georgia in 2021. He was a member of Georgia’s 2021 and 2022 championship teams, playing behind Stetson Bennett. This season, Vandagriff trailed Carson Beck as the backup.

Although Beck is thought to be a first-round draft pick, he may decide to return for his senior year in 2024, according to recent reports. That probably played a part in Vandagriff’s decision to move.

After three seasons, Kentucky needs a new starting quarterback. After Will Levis left for the NFL this season, transfer Devin Leary took over as the Wildcats’ starting guard. Now that Leary is going to enter the NFL Draft, Vandagriff can take the field as a starter.
