The Tennessee Volunteers continue to lose defensive backs to transfer portals.

Brandon Turnage, Warren Burrell, Jack Luttrell and Donejko Slaughter were the first defensive backs named to the portal.And on Monday, Tamarion McDonald and Deshaun Rucker also added their names to the list.
But these six players aren’t the only defensive backs who won’t return to Rocky Top in 2024.
Jalen McCollough and Kamal Hadden have exhausted their eligibility and will not be able to return.
That means the Vols will likely lose eight cornerbacks this offseason.
The team could make some additions to the transfer portal, as the depth is currently very thin.
Secondary is a shortened form of citrus bowl.
The Vols are scheduled to play the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day.
At this rate, the Vols are likely to use several young players for this game.

McCollough is expected to play in this game, with Gabe Jeudy Lally also expected to continue.
Currently, the team’s other options include Wesley Walker, Ricky Gibson, and Jordan Thomas.
McDonald and Slaughter may be the biggest losses for those who entered the portal.
McDonald had 40 tackles, one sack, and one INT for the Vols in 2023.
Slaughter recorded 32 tackles and one sack.
