Nebraska can get back to a bowl game if they “catch a break or two.

Getting to a bowl game is never easy, and it’s even more complicated when it’s your first season at your new program. However, with Nebraska’s Matt Rhule already having coaching experience at the collegiate level, it makes the transition that much easier.

This doesn’t guarantee a postseason outing, but it’s a pretty solid bet that the team will see a dramatic improvement this year over the last few. CBS Sports’ David Cobb places Nebraska in the tier of teams that will need to catch a break or two to make an appearance back in the posts. Considering the Cornhuskers have a favorable schedule ahead of them for Rhule’s first year, you can understand that these breaks will come and probably come often. It’s up to Nebraska to jump at these opportunities if they wish to return to the standard of a program they once were.

ESPN’s FPI index has Nebraska ending the season at 6-6, but if a few swings go their way, they could reach for an 8-4 season.
