Louis Blues Hockey Player Killed When Lightning Strikes Through His Bedroom Window And Strikes The Bed In The Room.

He and his wife were in bed, the Boston Herald reported today.

Welden, 30, of Falmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene after lightning struck his home and set the couple’s metal bed on fire.
Advertisement Welden’s father, Robert Welden, said his son’s wife Linda, 27, heard a flash and turned around to see a “ball of fire” under her husband’s head.

“His hair and pillow were on fire,” Robert Welden told the Herald.
“She tried to pull him out of bed, but her floor was completely wet from the rain coming in through the window.
” And she kept slipping.
The storm caused the couple’s house to lose power, forcing Mr.
Welden should run to his neighbor’s house to call for help.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, but moderate damage occurred.
Welden, who worked as a carpenter, played five games for the Blues in 1974–75.
