Two big name quarterbacks just entered the transfer portal
The transfer portal is officially open, and college football players all over the country are hopping in right at the start.
Two of the most recent big-name players to enter the portal were Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord.
McCord threw for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns this season but isn’t much of a rushing threat.
Gabriel threw for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns this season and also ran for 373 yards plus 12 touchdowns on the
ground.
Auburn will be a team in the market for a big-name quarterback after not getting much production from Payton Thorne this season.
Of these two names, the one that excites me the most would be Gabriel, thanks to his ability to run the football.
The system Coach Hugh Freeze wants to run requires a quarterback who can move the football on the ground, and McCord just isn’t really that guy.
Auburn needing a quarterback will be associated with a bunch of names in the portal, but you have to figure Coach Freeze will get one that fits his style of playcalling.
Gabriel is an experienced veteran quarterback and definitely someone to watch as Auburn looks for its next quarterback.
