As Trojans and Huskies Resume Series, Just 10 Players Remain

From the 2019 game, the UW returns 8 participants, USC just one and there’s a crossover

One might think it’s been 40 years since the last University of Washington-USC football game was held, rather than four, because only a handful of guys are still around to tell about it.

It’s been such an extended time since these schools went at it; a global pandemic has come and gone; head coaches for each side have changed over multiple times for the Huskies; and soon the 108-year-old Pac-12 Conference could be extinct.

Ten players are all that’s left who appeared in the UW’s 28-14 victory in 2019 at Husky Stadium and still pull on a game uniform—eight Huskies, a solitary Trojan and a former Trojan turned Husky.

USC safety Max Williams, who was a true freshman back then, remains the only starter from that game who’s still active for either team. He’s since battled injuries, missing the entire 2021 season and parts of the current one.

Against the Huskies, the precocious Williams came up and hit running back Salvon Ahmed so hard at the goal line that he caused a fumble that, luckily for the home team, was recovered in the end zone by one of Ahmed’s teammates, wide receiver Andre Baccellia.

All in a reserve role, the UW used linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio, edge rusher Zion Tupuola-Fetui, defensive tackle Tuli Letuligasenoa, then-offensive guard now DT Ulumoo Ale, safety Asa Turner, running back Richard Newton and tight ends Devin Culp and Jack Westover against USC. All are fifth- or sixth-year players now.
