Giants QB Tommy DeVito says his benching during the loss to the Eagles was a ‘reminder that it’s a business’ after whirlwind few weeks in New York

Tommy DeVito, the quarterback for the New York Giants, claimed that being benched during the team’s 33-25 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles served as a reminder of the harsh reality of the NFL.

It’s difficult. It serves as a continual reminder that this is a business, according to DeVito. “No matter where it is, they will always try to find someone to replace you.”

‘At the same time, it is a business. It’s your responsibility. I honor it. There are no negative emotions towards anyone. I was praying that Taylor would go out there and score a goal so that we would win. That’s all there is to it. That is all there is to it.

After the Giants managed just 101 total offensive yards and three points in the first half of the game against the Eagles, DeVito was benched at halftime.

Brian Daboll, head coach of the Giants, stated that he moved the quarterback in an effort to “just spark the team.” Really, I have nothing more to say. Just did it to get the squad going.

After trailing 20-3 at the half, the Giants fought their way back into the game and scored a touchdown on their opening play of the second half.

In the game’s last play, veteran backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor completed the ball with seven of sixteen passes for 133 yards, a score, and an interception on a Hail Mary.

When asked about who the Giants starter would be moving forward Daboll previously said: ‘I’m just worried about [Monday] here. We’ll talk about that here this week,’ and has yet to comment on who his starter will be moving forward.

DeVito and Taylor both seemed focused on their preparation heading into the week and acknowledged that the decision on who will start against the Los Angeles Rams on New Years Eve is out of their hands.

‘We’re going to work, watch the film and do all that,’ DeVito said. ‘At the end of the day, it’s not me or Tyrod’s decision, it’s the coaches’.’

‘It’s just work to me. I just go out and I’ve been trying to enjoy it every single day,’ he said. ‘I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — you never know when a snap is your last, so I try to go out and make the most of every snap when I’m out there. I appreciate every snap that I’ve had and I just try to keep moving forward.’

Since taking over as the Giants starter following injuries to Taylor and Daniel Jones, DeVito has thrown eight touchdown passes and three interception after six starts.

After joining the Giants as an undrafted free agent after playing in college at Syracuse, DeVito’s Cinderella run hit its peak fame when he upset the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night football to lead New York their third win in a row.
