Rams QB Matthew Stafford, on returning to Detroit for wild card: said,It’ll be a tough place to play.

1,000 Oaks, California Quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams is attempting to maintain as much normalcy as possible this week.

I wish you luck on that.

On Sunday night, Stafford will make his comeback to Detroit when the 10-7 Rams play the 12-5 Lions in a wild-card game that will mark the city’s first playoff game in thirty years.

Prior to the Rams trading for him in 2021, Stafford, who was selected by Detroit with the first overall pick in 2009, quarterbacked the Lions for the following 12 seasons. Although Stafford led the Rams to a championship the year he was traded, he participated in three road playoff games for the Lions, all of which ended in losses.

He was questioned on Wednesday about the kind of response he anticipated from the Detroit fan base.

To be completely honest with you, I’m not expecting anything,” Stafford said. I was asked this question a few times, only by relatives and friends. The most important thing, in my opinion, is to go have whatever experience that is going to be.

“I comprehend the meaning that the people and the city of Detroit intended.”

“I am aware of the significance that Detroit’s residents and the city hold for my family, my time, my profession, and myself. I hope they feel that back. However, I am aware of the circumstances and know that I am the villain visiting the area. They want me to fail, and I’m on the other team.

During his time as a player for the Lions, Stafford was born in Detroit. He and his wife, Kelly, have four young daughters.

“What a fantastic city. “What a fantastic bunch of fans,” Stafford remarked. “The company does a fantastic job. They will be thrilled, I’m sure of it. It will undoubtedly be one of the best environments we have played in a while. From my experience, it’s a group of people who adore the Lions. wished for their own best interests. And since they’re currently playing excellent football, they could get the chance to host a postseason game. They’ve earned that opportunity.

For those folks, it’s going to be a fun experience. It will be challenging to play there.

All this week, even during walkthroughs, the Rams have been working on their silent cadence. Their practice facilities’ walls resound with the thunderous thuds of their outdoor speakers.

“You know it’s going to be a great atmosphere and environment,” said Rams coach Sean McVay on Wednesday, “so that’s absolutely something that we’re going to be working on all week and we gotta be able to handle that.”

What McVay is less concerned about, he said, is Stafford’s ability to manage his emotional state heading into a game that is set up like a Hollywood script.

“I think it would be not being a human being to not feel a lot of different emotions,” said McVay, “but he’s put our team in a position to go play a meaningful game. He’s got a history there. I think it’s real to feel those types of things. But once you get into the game, let’s be totally immersed in the moment, and we’ve got a lot of confidence in him. I want him to just be able to cut it loose and be able to play with his teammates.”
