Leicester City boss claims Coventry City’s Kasey Palmer should have been sent off

The Leicester City manager was angry after his side saw their unbeaten run come to an end at the hands of Coventry City

Following a two-month unbeaten streak, Leicester City’s manager, Enzo Maresca, was incensed by his team’s defeat to Coventry City, which saw them reduced to ten men.

The irate Foxes manager asserted that Sky Blues star Kasey Palmer ought to have also been sent off and implied that his team’s extended winning streak was “upsetting people,” which resulted in decisions made in the loss to Coventry that he claims he found difficult to comprehend.

City were beaten after the Sky Blues scored three late goals, and while Maresca did not have complaints about Abdul Fatawu’s red card at the end of the first half, he was particularly frustrated that Palmer wasn’t sent off as well.

With fifteen minutes remaining, the Coventry attacking midfielder tripped Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to prevent a counterattack and keep City ahead 1-0. Palmer was already on a yellow card when Darren England, the referee, gave him a second booking, which shocked Maresca. Due to his complaints, the city manager received a yellow card, bringing his season total to three. This is sufficient to earn him a touchline ban for the next matchup against Ipswich.

Maresca believes that City’s winning streak has “annoyed people,” which is why the decisions were made, and he also makes reference to the penalty appeal that was rejected in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich during the last time his team was broadcast live on Sky Sports. When asked to name the irritated parties, Maresca remained silent.

“I prefer not to talk about the referee today because the last time we were on Sky, Ipswich away, it was a penalty,” he stated at his post-match press conference. It was very evident today, particularly in the second half.

He committed a few risky fouls, just like Palmer did when he received the yellow card, but there was no second yellow card. When you keep winning, you start to get on people’s nerves. I find it difficult to comprehend what transpired inside the pitch.

The second yellow card was extremely obvious. With Kiernan on the ball and Palmer fouling from behind, it was a counterattack for us. Although there was no yellow card, this one is obviously the yellow one.
