Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs to have backed away from targeting Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The Premier League market for Adrien Rabiot appears to be drifting away with the Juventus midfielder’s future unclear.

That is according to 90Min, who report that Premier League interest is fading away for Rabiot.

The French midfielder is out of contract this summer and will be free to leave Juventus in just a matter of days.

Juventus are still hoping to convince Rabiot to stay and their hopes may be boosted by diminishing interest from English clubs.

It’s stated that Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have all backed away, no longer as interested as they once were.

Liverpool and Newcastle seem to be going in different directions in midfield with deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Sandro Tonali respectively.

Tottenham may prefer to focus on a playmaker like James Maddison in order to suit the style of new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The avenues to the Premier League are closing for Rabiot, although Manchester United remain interested.

Adrien Rabiot is a tough evaluation

You could forgive those Premier League sides for being unsure just what they would be getting in Rabiot.

Long tipped for stardom, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder didn’t really shine in his first three seasons at Juventus.

Six goals in three seasons wasn’t all that impressive and Juventus probably would have sold him last summer if an offer was on the table.

Rabiot managed to put it all together this past season though, bagging 11 goals in all competitions whilst also shining for France at the World Cup.

That’s impressive for potential suitors but can they be confident that it will last?

Rabiot is 28 now and has only really hit his best form in his final year at Juventus, no doubt knowing that this could be his last huge contract with one of Europe’s elite.

That’s a risky investment for anyone and we can’t blame Liverpool, Newcastle or Tottenham for having seconds thoughts about him.
