Commanders’ RB Brian Robinson Both Ruled Out

Two New York defensive starters are questionable to face Washington in Week 16

The New York Jets will definitely be without quarterback Zach Wilson and possibly a couple defensive starters, too, when they host the Washington Commanders on December 24 at MetLife Stadium.

Remaining in concussion protocol and unable to practice this week, Wilson was ruled out for Sunday’s game on Friday.

“Zach, he will not clear the protocol, so he’ll be out,” said Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh.

Meanwhile, strong safety Jordan Whitehead and defensive end John Franklin-Myers are both questionable to face the Washington Commanders on December 24 at MetLife Stadium.

Whitehead seems more likely to be available than the latter. The safety logged three consecutive limited practices this week while dealing with a banged-up knee. On the other hand, Franklin-Myers has missed three straight practices. He was on the injury report last week with an ankle issue, and now the edge rusher is hampered by a hip injury.

“I still feel good about JFM,” said Saleh on Friday. “He usually goes through some stuff like this, but he always finds his way to gameday, so I’m still very encouraged on him.”

Neither Whitehead nor Franklin-Myers have missed a start yet this season.

The Jets’ defense will catch a break on Sunday as Washington RB1 Brian Robinson has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Robinson has accounted for 990 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns this season. He has rushed for a team-high 664 yards on 160 carries.

The Jets (5-9) and the Commanders (4-10) will kick off at 1:00 pm ET on Sunday in East Rutherford.
