For more than 20 years, Jerry Jones has not dismissed a Dallas Cowboys head coach at the conclusion of a season.
Jerry Jones has spent nearly two decades being largely indifferent to head coaches.

The Dallas Cowboys will welcome Mike McCarthy back in 2024. On Wednesday night, the announcement was officially made.

It’s evident from reading through the comments on that post that most fans are not happy with the state of affairs. McCarthy has had tremendous success in the regular season and punched three consecutive playoff tickets, but the good he has accomplished feels a little hollow because Dallas was humiliated in the playoffs and is 1-3 under him.

Apart from all of that, McCarthy’s contract year with the Cowboys is about to begin. The purpose of stating this is not to support McCarthy’s stay in office longer. but instead to draw attention to the drama that could be present in any corner of this specific

In addition to all of that, McCarthy will start his Cowboys contract year. Saying this is not meant to support McCarthy’s stay in office longer. instead, to draw attention to the possible drama that lurks in this specific scenario around every corner.

Perhaps you find drama to be enjoyable. Maybe you would like the pressure to be higher. However, the Cowboys organization—including this current regime—hasn’t always performed well under pressure, so deliberately creating this circumstance is a brave decision. This has been the case for almost 30 years.

It is clear that Jason Garrett left him for Mike McCarthy in his current position, and it is frequently forgotten how the latter ended his life. The Dallas Cowboys never let Jason Garrett go. It was just not renewed for him. The same thing will have occurred if the Cowboys decide to part ways with Mike McCarthy after the 2024 campaign.

Remarkably, the Cowboys haven’t fired a head coach at the conclusion of a season in a very long time. The team gave Wade Phillips, Garrett’s predecessor, his walking papers, but it was not the end of the 2010 season; ironically, it came after a defeat to Mike McCarthy’s Green Bay Packers.
