Huskers lose commitment from 2025 WR CJ Simon

The announcement on Tuesday night by wide receiver CJ Simon that he would be decommitting from the Nebraska Cornhuskers 2025 recruiting class was devastating.
“After giving it some thought, praying, and talking to my family, I’ve made the decision to declare that I’m leaving the University of Nebraska. I want to express my gratitude to the staff and coaches for this chance. I’m now accepting applications.
On December 2, the Moore, Oklahoma native chose the Huskers over offers from Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Kansas.3 thoughts on commitment of CJ Simon to Nebraska football

Following Simon’s decommitment, the Huskers currently have three commitments in their 2025 recruiting class: defensive tackle Tyson Terry, running back Caden VerMaas, and running back Connor Booth.

Upon thorough contemplation, supplications, and discussions with my relatives, I have made the decision to declare my withdrawal from the University of Nebraska. I want to express my gratitude to the staff and coaches for this chance.
My hiring is currently open💯🏈

Jeremy Pernell: Ranking Nebraska’s 2024 Signees

The best Nebraska class in over ten years was signed by Matt Rhule.

In the current recruiting cycle (2024), the Huskers signed just their fourth five-star player. Dylan Raiola is the biggest recruit since Tommie Frazier joined in 1992, joining Marlon Lucky (2005), Baker Steinkuhler (2008), and Aaron Green (2011).
Additionally, Dylan Raiola (ranked No. 21), Carter Nelson (ranked No. 55), and Grant Brix (ranked No. 82) are the three players from the first class Nebraska has signed since 2011. In that class, they also signed three players: Charles Jackson (No. 79), Jamal Turner (No. 66), and Aaron Green (No. 33).
In comparison, over the course of the last 12 recruiting classes, the Huskers have only signed six players overall ranked in the Top 100 Composite, and they have never signed more than one in a single season. Those players include Lamar Jackson (ranked 81st in 2016, Tyjon Lindsey (ranked 50th in 2017), Wan’Dale Robinson (ranked 87th in 2019), Turner Corcoran (ranked 48th in 2020), Thomas Fidone (ranked 93rd in 2021), and Malachi Coleman (ranked 66th in 2023).

Matt Rhule emphasizes particular physical and athletic attributes heavily in his recruitment methodology, which is primarily analytics-driven. Additionally, he is a strong supporter of kids playing multiple sports throughout high school.
