Winners and Losers from Cincinnati’s 68-59 loss to No. 10 Iowa State
James had an instant effect in this one’s first few minutes and never looked back. James made his first two field goals of the game in the first half, which also happened to be two massive three-pointers. The youngster scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half, spearheading the Bearcats’ comeback attempt.
James played in a career-best 25 minutes, surpassing his previous high of 23 against Merrimack earlier this season, and finished with a game-high 16 points, five rebounds, and a highly effective 60% shooting percentage. With four made three-pointers, he set a new career high with 12 of his 16 points coming from beyond the arc.
After Iowa State had scored nine straight points at one point, Tamin Lipsey was causing the Bearcats some trouble in the first half. However, after scoring nine points in the first half on nearly flawless 3-of-4 shooting, James made Lipsey’s life very tough in the second half, limiting him to just six points on 2-of-8 shooting during the last 20 minutes.
