Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will hold talks over a deal for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba over the coming days.
Alasdair Gold revealed on Football.London earlier this week that Spurs are expected to make whole changes at centre-back ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.
The journalist said that the club wish to offload several players and bring in two central defenders for the right-sided and left-sided roles.
Tapsoba, who has emerged as one of the most highly-rated centre-back in the Bundesliga over the last couple of years, is mooted to be one of the options on the North London club’s radar.
It was reported by BILD a couple of days ago that the Leverkusen star is seen as a ‘very interesting’ option by Spurs, who could launch an offer of around €50m (£42.9m) for the player.

Romano has now taken to social media to assert that Tottenham are expected to open talks over a deal for the Burkina Faso international over the next few days.

One can understand why there seems to have been a major shift in the profile of centre-backs that Tottenham are targeting, with the requirements to play in Postecoglou’s system being vastly different to Conte’s.
Tapsoba can be quite a useful squad option as he can play either side of central defence and one can argue that he still has not hit his ceiling as a player.
