Nebraska football the latest power program coming for Minnesota LB

The best prospect in Minnesota’s 2025 class, Emmanuel Karmo, has officially received an offer from the Nebraska football team.

The Nebraska football coaches are probably aware of how infuriating it can be when major programs target athletes in the state that the Huskers should have little trouble attracting. It doesn’t follow that they won’t repay the favor if given the chance.

The most recent instance of this occurred earlier this week when Emmanuel Karmo, the top prospect in the state of Minnesota, received an official offer from the Nebraska football program. It appears that by doing this, the Huskers are attempting to enter the game before the Golden Gophers do. It’s unclear why PJ Fleck and company are permitting Matt Rhule to act in this manner.

Karmo is a 6-foot-2 linebacker that might only be a 3-star prospect for the big recruiting services, but it’s clear he’s on the rise. One big time program after another has come calling, including USC and Ohio State.

It took until January 30 for Minnesota to give the linebacker an official offer and that might be the opening that the Nebraska football program needed. Matt Rhule knows all about waiting a bit too long to offer an in-state kid. It can cause problems.

It can cause so many problems that a player the caliber of Karmo, who has more than a few choices, especially in the new look Big Ten, can decide that Fleck’s offer is too little, too late. The Huskers are hoping that is the case.

The Robbinsdale Cooper will be able to choose from the best. Among the schools that have expressed interest are Iowa, Michigan State, Missouri, Oregon, Penn State, USC, Ohio State, San Diego State, and Notre Dame. The three-star linebacker hasn’t revealed much about his leanings thus far.

That might also be good news for the football squad at Nebraska. As they were among the last to enter the scene, they don’t seem to have much ground to make up for at the moment. Getting the standout defender to come to Lincoln is the next stage. There’s never a better chance than the Spring Game to do that.
