Tottenham are reportedly closing in on the signing of Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to a report from Daily Star, the 24-year-old Burkina Faso international will be Tottenham’s second summer signing after the capture of Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli.
Apparently, there is a £25 million bid on the table and the North London giants are ‘very close’ to securing his services.
A move to the Premier League would be an exciting new step in the career of the 24-year-old defender and he is likely to be excited about the idea of playing in England.
It is no secret that Tottenham needed to bring in defensive reinforcements and the 24-year-old should prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.
Tapsoba has been highly impressive in the Bundesliga and he has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well.
Apart from his defensive qualities, the 24-year-old will add some much-needed pace to the Tottenham defensive line. The newly appointed Tottenham manager prefers to play progressive football and Tapsoba’s recovery pace could prove to be very useful for Tottenham.
The 24-year-old is still relatively young and he is likely to improve further with experience and coaching. He could develop into a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
The reported £25 million fee could look like a bargain if the Bundesliga defender manages to hit the ground running in the Premier League.
Cristian Romero has been the only quality defender at the club in recent seasons and Tapsoba is likely to partner him at the heart of the defence.
