Vancouver Whitecaps announce signing of Junior Hoilett

The Vancouver Whitecaps, a team in the Western Conference, have confirmed the free agent signing of seasoned Canadian forward Junior Hoilett.

The adaptable forward, who has also filled in as a wing-back, first gained recognition for Blackburn Rovers of the Premier League in 2010 as a dangerous dribbler with good finishing ability and a quick shot.

With the exception of two seasons in which he played in the Premier League with Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City, Hoilett has played the most of his career in the English Championship.

Following his leadership of the Canadian national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, Hoilett is now on his way back home to experience his first-ever Major League Soccer game.

“I’m super excited to be here in Vancouver, where I shared many great memories at BC Place in front of amazing fans,” Hoilett said in reference to his relocation today.
