Spring Football Preview: Texas A&M’s QB room is the deepest it’s been in years
With the 2024 college football season only five months away, spring football is here. The checkup this month will give us a sneak peek at what lies next for Texas A&M and new head coach Mike Elko. Even if it still seems like Jimbo Fisher will appear out of nowhere, I can guarantee you that the new administration has been working hard to put together a squad that appears to be on the verge of greatness on both sides of the ball.
This offseason, we have already covered a number of position groups. The quarterback depth chart is particularly interesting, and although Conner Weigman, a new junior, is expected to start, there are still a lot of moving parts with the new coaching staff. However, for the purposes of this article, let’s assume that Weigman will be the starting quarterback when the Aggies play Notre Dame on opening day.
With veteran Jaylen Henderson opting to return after starting the last four regular season games in 2023, he will battle for the No. 1 job but is likely the direct backup unless sophomore QB Marcel Reed has something to say about it.
For a closer look at how things might shake out, here is the projected QB depth chart ahead of Texas A&M’s spring football session.
