Maliq Brown won’t wear an exhibition final outfit, while Benny Williams has been suspended from the team.
Before the game versus St. Rose, Syracuse basketball provided two updates to its roster.
A little over an hour before the start of Syracuse basketball’s regular-season finale versus St. Rose on Wednesday, the team announced that forward Benny Williams had been suspended and that Maliq Brown would not be dressing.

Williams was cited for a “violation of team rules”; he is anticipated to return to the program shortly.

For precautionary reasons, Brown is not dressing because of a “mild lower-body injury.”
Williams is anticipated to lead the Orange this season as a seasoned player. Undoubtedly, this ban is not a good place to start. Fortunately, it’s only the preseason, so maybe this is a small problem. It’s good that he is anticipated to rejoin the program shortly in that regard.

While injuries are never good, anything even slightly off can make you more careful during an event like this one. There is a much higher likelihood that Brown would participate if this were a regular season game. Under new head coach Adrian Autry, Brown is anticipated to be a vital component this season, serving as both a center and a power forward.
The Orange play their final game of the exhibition season on Wednesday night in the JMA Wireless Dome versus St. Rose. The regular season kicks up Monday night when New Hampshire visits town.
