San Diego State beats UNLV 74-71 | Mountain West Conference Tournament

LAS VEGAS: On Thursday in Las Vegas, San Diego State upset UNLV 74-71 in overtime. With the victory, the Aztecs advance to the Mountain West Conference semifinals, where they will play Utah State on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

San Diego State defeated UNLV 74-71 on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament thanks to a jumper by Jaedon LeDee with 14 seconds remaining in overtime and two more free throws to seal the victory.

After defeating Fresno State 87-75 in overtime, Utah State will play San Diego State in the semifinals on Friday.

For the Aztecs (23–9), LeDee tallied 34 points, including seven in overtime, and added 16 rebounds. Lamont Butler made 5 of 8 shots from the field to score 12 points. Darrion Trammell finished with 11 points on 4 of 9 shots, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc.

Dedan Thomas Jr., who finished with 29 points and five assists, led the Rebels (19-12) in scoring. Keylan Boone contributed 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks for UNLV. Justin Webster scored 14 points in the end. The Rebels’ five-game winning streak was ended by the defeat.

San Diego State trailed 27–22 at the break after LeDee scored nine points in the first half. LeDee scored eighteen points in the second half to help San Diego State win by three points.

Aztecs come from behind (twice) to beat UNLV in OT in Mountain West  Conference Tournament – NBC 7 San Diego

CBS 8’s John Howard traveled to Las Vegas to follow the San Diego State Aztecs men’s basketball team through the 2024 Mountain West Conference Tournament. The team is looking to repeat as 2023 conference tournament champs that continued with their magical run in the 2023 NCAA Tournament that took them to the Final Four, eventually losing to the UConn Huskies in the National Championship game.

The San Diego State women’s basketball team made it all the way to the Championship Game in their conference tournament, their 4th game in 4 days as the #7 seed, eventually losing to the UNLV Lady Rebels 66-49.

John Howard caught up with some of the players and coach Brian Dutcher on their thoughts about playing against the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels on their home court at the Thomas &Mack Center.
