Boise State Football: Mountain West Champions

The Broncos defeated UNLV 44-20 at Allegiant Stadium on December 2 to earn their fifth Mountain West championship. The promotion of Boise State’s interim head coach Spencer Danielson to permanent head coach followed the victory. In the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, Danielson is the first temporary coach to win a conference championship.

Thanks to his performance on the field this season, sophomore running back Ashton Jeanty from Jacksonville, Florida, earned the 29th Bronco in Boise State history to be named to the First Team All-America. In the all-purpose category, USA TODAY Sports’ College Football selected Jeanty as the winner. The 5’9,” 210-pound rushing back was second among all NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision players in both the all-purpose and scrimmage yardage categories this season with a combined total of 164.9 yards per game. Jeanty also made 19 total touchdowns—14 from running and 5 from receiving.

His impressive 2023 season performance led to him becoming the only player in the country with more than 1,200 (1,262) rushing and 500 (552) receiving yards. The biggest news from Jeanty, to the thrill of Bronco fans, is that he will return to The Blue for his junior season, making the huge announcement via a letter on social media that stated, “I will be a Bronco for Life!”
