ANDY FARRELL APPOINTED AS NEW BRITISH AND IRISH LIONS HEAD COACH FOR UPCOMING 2025 TOUR IN AUSTRALIA
It was revealed on Thursday that Andy Farrell will captain the British and Irish Lions on their trip to Australia in 2025. Farrell will take over as head coach for the first time in his career from Warren Gatland. As the defense coach for the Lions on their tours to Australia and New Zealand in 2013 and 2017, respectively, the 48-year-old has traveled with the team. Farrell has had success in Ireland as well.
Andy Farrell has been named as the British and Irish Lions head coach for the 2025 tour in Australia, it was announced on Thursday.
Farrell will succeed former Lions coach Warren Gatland, who stepped down from the role in October 2023.
The 48-year-old has enjoyed previous success with the Lions as a defence coach during the 2013 and 2017 Lions tours to Australia and New Zealand, respectively.
While they drew the series in New Zealand four years later, the Lions were able to win the series during their 2013 Australian tour.

“Having participated in the 2013 and 2017 Tours, I am aware of the unique nature of Lions Tours, so I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the team in 2025.”
