Vikings keeping Justin Jefferson in loop on QB plans
The Minnesota Vikings have big shoes to fill at quarterback after losing seasoned starter Kirk Cousins to free agency.
During his six seasons as the team’s starter, Cousins led the Vikings to the postseason twice and was selected to three Pro Bowls. Because of Cousins’ reliability in Minnesota, he received a sizable salary in Atlanta, leaving the Vikes with three inexperienced signal-callers.
However, Justin Jefferson, the team’s greatest player and standout receiver, is said to be “excited” about the chance to coach a rookie quarterback and hasn’t been deterred from signing a long-term contract by the Vikings’ quarterback dilemma. Jefferson is about to go on the last year of his four-year deal.
Head coach of the Vikings Kevin O’Connell stated, “Needing to know and being a part of a collaborative process, which Justin is, are two different things.” “I have a strong sense that I should keep him updated. He has been informed. He has known this. Throughout this entire process, he has truly been able to express himself to me through our friendship.”
While Jefferson supported retaining Cousins on the club, he did not demand it from the management.
