Luis Muriel confirms transfer to MLS side Orlando City
The Colombian striker Luis Muriel has announced that he will be joining Orlando City and leaving Italian team Atalanta.
Muriel will compete in Major League Soccer this season. Her contract with Atalanta was scheduled to end on June 30.Prior to moving to Orlando City, the former Sevilla and Udinese player departed Italy on Monday to travel to the United States.
He sent a video message on Instagram saying goodbye to Atalanta supporters before he left.
He stated: “I already wanted to express my gratitude for the four and a half amazing years I spent in Bergamo.
“Bergamo will always remain in my heart, like a second home.
“Thank you for all the messages of affection these days, I hope you will follow me with sympathy also in my new adventure in Orlando.”
Muriel, 32, scored 68 goals in 184 appearances for Atalanta, the club he joined from Sevilla in the summer of 2019.
At Orlando City, Muriel will work under fellow Colombian Oscar Pareja.
