WVU Defensive Lineman Retires Zeiqui Lawton, a 2020 South Charleston High School alumnus, was given consideration by West Virginia but ultimately chose to sign with Cincinnati. After spending a year with the Bearcats, Lawton went into the transfer site and decided he wanted to play for the Mountaineers back home.
Sadly, he had a bad experience while wearing gold and blue. He only made one game appearance due to an injury that was never properly diagnosed. Head coach Neal Brown announced Lawton’s resignation from the squad during his news conference on Wednesday.
Zeiqui is no longer practicing medicine. It was proving to be extremely challenging for him to complete his purchase. Wonderful youngster, I wholeheartedly support him.
Fortunately, West Virginia’s defensive line has an incredible amount of depth up front, and they should be able to cover Lawton’s position given their size. Although Brown will continue to search the internet for help at all points, especially the d-line, the group is now quite well-stocked two deep.
