Phil Gould has provided an injury update on recruit Connor Tracey, while the Newcastle Knights will be without one of their crucial spine members for the opening round of the season.

Gould, the General Manager of the Canterbury Bulldogs, has revealed that Tracey has returned to training and will return through the NSW Cup in Round 2.

Bulldogs supporters can now rejoice because, according to the original timeline, he is likely to be available before Round 6. It’s thought that Tracey hurt his ankle during a training session with the Cronulla Sharks, his former team, the day before he signed a contract with the Bulldogs.

On SEN 1170 The Run Home earlier, journalist Michelle Bishop stated, “Connor Tracey had a bit of an accident at training.”

“He rolled his ankle 24 hours before he actually completed the deal and signed the new contract at the Bulldogs.”

“He’s going to be benched; this wasn’t just a mediocre roll.”

Though he will make a comeback via reserve-grade in round two, it is unclear when coach Cameron Ciraldo

as a possible candidate to be chosen for the NRL first-grade squad.

He’s currently in full training. operating efficiently. Most likely to play during NSW Cup week.

Regarding team news, Jayden Brailey, the hooker for the Newcastle Knights, has given an update regarding when he expects to return from a minor hamstring injury that kept him out of the NRL Pre-Season Challenge for two weeks.

Due to a knee reconstruction, the hooker missed most of the 2023 NRL season; however, his injury problems have persisted.

The 27-year-old had previously suffered two ACL tears, one in his left leg and one in his right. So, this wasn’t the first time it had happened to him.

Brailey said he would not be able to attend the Knights opening.

round game against the Canberra Raiders in anticipation of a round three or four comeback.

“I honestly don’t have a specific date on when I’ll be back, but I’m probably on the unlikely side for next week,” Brailey said to NCA Newswire.

“If it’s not the first round, it will fall between the first three rounds.”

Phoenix Crossland is the obvious choice to wear the number nine jersey since Brailey is injured. This implies that while one of them slots into the halves alongside Jackson Hastings, Tyson Gamble or Jack Cogger will fill the utility role off the interchange bench.

Although Jayden Brailey hopes to return by Round 3, he is regarded as “unlikely” to play in Round 1.
In January of 2023, Brailey underwent an ACL reconstruction; however, the strain to his hamstring has persisted longer than anticipated.
