Andrew Harris to sign one-day deal and retire as a Winnipeg Blue Bomber

WINNIPEG – Running back Andrew Harris will sign a one-day contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this month and retire as a member of the team, the CFL club said Friday.

The Blue Bombers posted a picture of some of Harris’s accomplishments along with a goat emoji on X, the former Twitter site. The tweet added, “Thank you for everything.”

The 36-year-old Harris is a native of Winnipeg, and he helped the Blue Bombers win the Grey Cup in 2019 and 2021.

Together with the B.C. Lions in 2011 and the Toronto Argonauts in 2022, he also won two CFL championships.

Throughout his 13-year CFL career, Harris—who became the league’s all-time top Canadian rusher in 2019—recorded five seasons with 1,000 yards or more in the passing. During the previous season, he participated in 12 games for the Argonauts and gained 229 running yards on 49 carries with two touchdowns.

Harris intends to formally sign his contract on April 27.
